You’re not a beginner.

You’ve done the work: the recovery from disordered eating, the therapy, weight stabilization.

Now you’re ready to live life beyond recovery.

Whether you’re emerging from years of disordered eating, or you’ve just stopped the weight-cycling rollercoaster, this is the place where healing turns into trust.

Intuitive eating isn’t trying to wing it. Here, you learn how to reconnect with your body’s wisdom with care, curiosity, and skill.

This might be your next step if…

You’ve had an eating disorder in the past and know it’s time to reconnect with hunger, fullness, and flexibility

You’ve just stopped the weight‑cycling rollercoaster (maybe through our Stop Weight Cycling Support) and want to explore deeper food freedom

You’re doing “all the right things” but still feel disconnected from satisfaction, joy, and trust in your body

You feel stuck in your head, second-guessing every food decision

You want to eat intuitively, but feel lost trying it on your own

Let’s rebuild trust in your body.

The Way I Teach the Phases of Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating is not “just eat when hungry and stop when full.”

It’s a layered process and one that often starts with structure and stability, and grows into trust, ease, and confidence around food.

We don’t follow these phases rigidly.

We start wherever you are ready. But it helps to know where we’re going:

1. Structured Eating (also called Mechanical Eating)

You can’t “listen to your hunger” if your body isn’t fed consistently.

This phase is about eating enough, regularly, with consistent meals and snacks, even if you don’t feel hunger cues yet. It’s the foundation., This is where we usually begin, especially if you’re emerging from chronic dieting, weight cycling or an eating disorder.

Together we’ll:

  • Establish a reliable eating rhythm (no skipping!)
  • Discover how much food your body actually needs
  • Stabilize blood sugar and energy dips
  • Reduce binge or skip urges and reactive eating
2. Mindful Eating & Attunement

Once your body is nourished, you can begin to tune into it more clearly.

We’ll begin to explore:

  • Hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues
  • Emotional eating and alternative coping tools
  • Disrupting autopilot patterns (like “the clean plate” habits)
  • Bringing more pleasure and presence to meals

This is also where we build awareness around lingering “food rules” that sneak in under the radar.

3. Intuitive Eating

This is where trust starts to deepen and you feel the difference.

You’ll begin to:

  • Make food decisions with ease (not anxiety)
  • Honor cravings without guilt
  • Navigate meals out, travel, and unpredictable days
  • Feel connected to your body’s changing needs

We’re not just practicing intuitive eating, we’re living it.

4. Gentle Nutrition

You’re ready to care for your health without obsession.

At this stage, we gently layer in:

  • Health-supportive changeswithout restrictive diet mentality
  • Flexible meal planning (if helpful)
  • Exploring specific goals (e.g., sports nutrition, GI symptoms, lowering cholesterol, etc.)
  • Body image tools to support long-term resilience

You’ll feel confident knowing your body will tell you what it needs, and that you’ll actually listen.

Family Nutritionist, Marissa Beck

Hi, I’m Marissa!

Hi, I’m Marissa, registered dietitian, intuitive eater since 2009, and someone who believes deeply in the power of body respect.

I don’t just teach intuitive eating… I live it. I’ve rebuilt my own relationship with food and movement, and now I’m raising two intuitive eaters of my own. I’ve learned what it means to trust my body through major life shifts: injury, PCOS, motherhood, and the noise of diet culture.

And I’ve helped hundreds of clients do the same.

If you’re new to intuitive eating, I’ll help you find a starting point that makes sense for you. If you’ve read the book and still feel stuck, we’ll dig deeper. If you’re juggling health concerns, binge eating, perfectionism, or body image stress, I’ve got you.

My approach is grounded, practical, and entirely shame-free. I’ll help you move from fear and frustration into confidence and clarity.

No pressure to “get it right.” I look forward to helping you reconnect with yourself.

“I finally feel normal around food.”
    — Taylor M., former chronic dieter

I’ve done every diet. Keto, WW, clean eating… you name it. I thought intuitive eating sounded too “woo” for me. But working with Marissa has been incredible. I no longer binge or obsess over carbs. For the first time in decades, I can keep snacks in the house without feeling out of control. She really is like a nutrition-whisperer.

    “I am fully healed now.”
    — Akiko, works in healthcare

Growing up in a home without room for imperfection, food became a place where I found refuge. It got to a point where I ended up not only having an undiagnosed eating disorder, but recovered from it with little support. I did not know about intuitive eating until I started to hear about it in the work I do. That is when I realized I wanted to become an intuitive eater. I read the book. I found a lot of solace in it, but knew I needed more support this time versus going a solitary route. I am so glad I found Marissa through a dear friend of mine. Without you, I know that my complete healing would have taken much longer. Thank you so much for this.

“I thought weight had to be the focus. I was wrong.”
    — Jason L., client with metabolic concerns and body image struggles

I came in wanting to lose about 50 lbs or more. I didn’t want to give up my low carb lifestyle and Marissa didn’t make me do that, which ironically I think ended up helping in the long-run, because as we began to look at why I was removing these foods and how they weren’t really the problem, I ended up being more comfortable with them “the permission” and after working with Marissa, not only have I lowered my A1C, sleep better, but now I can go out for an ice cream and eat it without feeling like I ruined everything. I also don’t feel like I am depriving myself and want the salad finally, and it isn’t because it’s a diet-food! I think what actually helped me the most is seeing how flexible this whole thing really is and that when it comes to my weight, that is something that I somehow am not as focused on, which is mind-blowing.

    Why Begin Intuitive Eating?

Because you’ve spent enough of your life obsessing.

If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of control… guilt… rebellion… shame, you’re not alone. You’ve just stuck in a system that was never designed to work long-term.

That’s what diets do: they disconnect you from your own body, then blame you when it backfires.

Intuitive eating gives you a way out (not just from bingeing, tracking, or fearing food) but from the entire belief system that says your worth is tied to your willpower.

    Imagine:

    • Eating without second-guessing every bite.
    • Moving your body because it feels good – not to “earn” your meals.
    • Trusting yourself around snacks, parties, or vacation food.
    • Raising kids who don’t inherit food guilt.
    • Living fully, without “starting over Monday.”

As a registered dietitian (and intuitive eater since 2009), I’ve walked this path myself. I know how scary it is to let go of food rules. I also know how freeing it is when you do. And I meet you exactly where you are.

    FAQ

Have questions? Explore the FAQ below or reach out and let’s chat!

Do I have to give up my desire to lose weight to try intuitive eating?

It’s normal to want to feel better in your body. Intuitive eating doesn’t shame you for that. But what we do explore is why that desire exists and what truly helps your body thrive without jumping back on the restrict-binge rollercoaster. You can want weight change and learn how to respect your body right now.

Please know, a lot of my clients who still want to track weight and numbers benefit from my Stop Weight Cycling service.

Is intuitive eating just “eat whatever you want?”

Not really. While no foods are off-limits, intuitive eating is about tuning in to your body, not tuning out. While you’re always allowed to eat a doughnut, having full permission makes the temptations less strong. This helps you to be able to stop eating doughnuts when your body has had enough instead of mindlessly eating without access to a brake pedal.

Intuitive eating is a flexible framework that helps you eat with intention and satisfaction. We’ll rebuild that connection so food becomes less overwhelming and more peaceful.

Can I do this if I have a medical condition like high cholesterol, PCOS, or diabetes?

Absolutely. Intuitive eating can coexist with medical nutrition therapy. In fact, it often helps you manage these conditions better by building trust and consistency with food, which is something restriction usually disrupts. We’ll personalize the approach to your needs and labs.

What if I’ve tried intuitive eating before and it didn’t work?

Most people don’t get the support they need the first time. Maybe you read the book, followed a few accounts, or downloaded a worksheet. That’s not the same as working 1:1 with a dietitian who knows how to apply the principles to your real life and help you through the messy parts.

How long does it take to “get” intuitive eating?

This isn’t a 30-day challenge. It’s a process… and one that looks different for everyone. But I can tell you this: the relief starts early. Most clients begin to feel better within a few sessions because the pressure lifts, the rules fade, and eating starts to make more sense.

Can I raise my kids as intuitive eaters while doing this work myself?

Yes, and it’s one of my favorite things to support. I’m raising two intuitive eaters myself and regularly help parents navigate their own healing while teaching their kids a more peaceful, body-positive way to eat.

I’m still recovering from an eating disorder, can I begin intuitive eating?

Yes, with support. Intuitive eating can be part of eating disorder recovery, but timing and approach matter. If you are still early in recovery or experiencing irregular eating patterns, we might pause this work and transition you into my Eating Disorder Care track instead. You’ll still get expert support, just in a more specialized setting that protects your recovery. As you heal, intuitive eating principles can gently guide the next phase of recovery, always at a pace that respects your needs.

Can I do intuitive eating if I’m on a GLP-1 medication?

Yes, and I’m so glad you asked. If you are on a GLP-1 (like Wegovy or Zepbound), intuitive eating may look different for you. I offer a judgment-free space to help you rebuild body trust with or without medication, focusing on sustainable habits and meaningful health markers. If weight seems to be a considerable focus, however, I will direct you to my service, Stop Weight Cycling.

Do you help with meal planning?

100%. Intuitive eating doesn’t mean winging it every day. Structure can support flexibility. I’ll help you create simple meal and snack plans that match your lifestyle, hunger cues, and preferences without falling into diet culture traps.

Will I be hungry all the time? Or never hungry?

Both things can happen… and they’re normal. Many clients start with dysregulated hunger (blunted or intense), especially after years of dieting. I’ll help you gently reconnect with your cues and build trust so your body can begin to better recognize and respond to its own signals over time.

I’m scared to let go of tracking or food rules. Can I still do this?

Absolutely. Many clients come to me feeling like they want food freedom but fear what will happen if they let go. That’s normal. We’ll never force you to abandon tools before you are ready. Instead, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and what feels safe to experiment with. You don’t have to flip a switch. Intuitive eating is a process, and there is no one right way to get there.
