💻 All Sessions Are Virtual

My standard rate is $50 per 15 minutes.

Sessions are billed in 15-minute increments, whether you’re using insurance or paying privately. Good news: Many clients with insurance end up paying $0 out of pocket after claims are processed.

I also offer sliding scale options and package rates to help make care more accessible.

If you’re submitting claims yourself, here’s a quick guide to walk you through the process: See my Superbills 101 info sheet

COVERAGE DEPENDS ON INDIVIDUAL PLAN AND BENEFITS

We will help you determine whether your plan covers our services. Benefits vary by plan, and coverage is not guaranteed even if we are in-network.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

+ In which states can you offer nutrition services?

I’m licensed in Washington and certified in New York, so I can provide nutrition counseling in both states. I also serve clients in California with a doctor’s referral, under state regulations.

Beyond these, many states either don’t require state-specific licensure for RDNs or have exemptions that allow registered dietitians to practice. This typically includes states where the title is protected but you don’t need a state license to practice, and states with no law or certification requirements for nutrition counseling. Examples include:

  • Nutrition without licensure required: Arizona, California*, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

*California requires a doctor’s referral for medical nutrition therapy, which I can provide.

Because state laws vary and change, I always confirm licensure rules for each client. If you’re outside of WA, NY, or CA, just reach out and I’ll review your state’s laws and let you know if we can move forward together.

+ How do I find out if my specific insurance plan covers nutrition counseling?

I’ve made this super easy for you. I put together a free cheat sheet with exactly what to ask your insurance company, so you can find out if your plan covers nutrition counseling (and how much).
👉 Grab the script & coverage checklist here.

If you’ll be using a superbill for possible reimbursement, I also have a quick guide that explains how that process works:
👉 See my Superbills 101 info sheet.

+ Are there limits on the number of sessions covered by insurance per year?

It depends on your specific insurance plan. Some have limits on the number of covered nutrition sessions per year, while others don’t.

That’s why I always recommend checking your benefits first. I have a free script & checklist that walks you through exactly what to ask your insurance company.
👉 Grab it here.

+ Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for nutrition counseling?

Yes! Most Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to use funds for nutrition counseling.

I always recommend double-checking with your plan to be sure. If needed, I can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) to submit for reimbursement.

+ Do you accept Medicare?

I’m not in-network with Medicare, but we can still work together through a private pay arrangement. I’ll guide you through the simple paperwork so we can focus on your care.

+ If my insurance doesn't cover nutrition counseling, do you offer a sliding scale or payment plans?

I do. I have a few sliding scale spots and flexible payment plans available. If your insurance doesn’t cover sessions, let’s chat and see what fits your needs.

+ What happens if my insurance denies coverage for nutrition counseling?

If your insurance denies coverage for nutrition counseling, we’ll first review the claim for any errors and resubmit it.

If it’s denied again, we can start an appeal and provide more documentation to show the medical necessity of your care.

If coverage is ultimately denied, we’ll go over payment options together (including sliding scale fees) to help you continue receiving the support you need.

My goal is always to explore every possible insurance avenue before we even think about out-of-pocket costs.
