Intro

Hi everyone! I’m Marissa from REVV Health — I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist and love sharing ways to improve your everyday nutrition.

Overview

Today, I want to share my website with you as I’ve provided a boatload of information here, and while it does answer the majority of most people’s questions, I wanted to break down the process of what working with me is like and talk through my consultations and packages.

What Is Nutrition Counseling?

When you think about an effective individual nutrition counseling relationship between two people, it involves trust, honesty and listening with the goal of achieving healthful outcomes. More importantly, the relationship can empower the client to think differently about nutrition in order to make positive choices in the long-term.

Why REVV Health?

Firstly, I can’t emphasize enough that my primary priority when I work with you is YOU.

When clients come to me, it’s because they desperately want to improve their health. That is why I’m in the dietetic profession. I like helping people attain self-mastery in the area of nutrition with personalized nutrition counseling. Nutrition for me is the lever through which I impact change. And my belief is that I have the tools to help people and the professional responsibility to do so.

What Can I Expect from Nutrition Counseling?

Okay. So, let’s talk about what you get when you work with me and this applies to working with me whether it’s just one time or weekly standing appointments. I am a nutrition counselor, take note of the word counselor there because while you can be sure you are receiving evidence-based nutrition guidance and information, working together is also about building a relationship. one, where I:

  • Listen to you,
  • Aim to understand what your experience has been like, and then
  • Retain information you’ve shared with me to help build out an appropriate plan of action.

In the medical field, we might call a plan of action, a treatment plan, or a protocol. So after each session I ensure that you walk away with a protocol, which can then help you feel motivated to act and you’ll have the specific tools to take action.

Getting Results

Now, whether or not you take action is irrelevant. I know that’s silly to say, but it takes a long time to change behaviors, especially nutrition behaviors, right? These are behaviors we might have been partaking in since childhood. That’s not so easy to change. So while this means, that that we want to try to change, I don’t expect you to “do your homework” and meet with me each week with a “perfect score.”

No.

I call our work together, “planting seeds.” We are planting the seeds and nurturing them each time we meet to help you grow. We cannot control the weather. In other words, the unforeseen daily circumstances that come up in our life, but we can control our response and this is what you and me work on to unpack behaviors and make, you know, helpful changes.

Services & Packages

Now, I work with a lot of different types of people and conditions which I’ve listed out on my website. I work primarily with adults and children, in solo sessions who are over the age of twelve. For pediatric nutrition counseling, I work with the primary caregivers and if you’re a business looking for nutrition education and counseling as well as nutrition classes and workshops I can help you do that, as well.

Online Nutrition Counseling

Let’s talk about packages, and what I am currently offering into this year ahead. I’ve broken out my packages into different groupings, based on what I have seen clients needing in my counseling experience.

Most people will need at least four to six sessions depending on what they want to achieve. Unless you are just trying to brush up in a few places, which is what my 2-pack and one-time visits are for, you most likely will want to gravitate toward ongoing nutrition visits, and I offer a 4-pack, 6-pack and 12-pack all of which include one 60-minute assessment and accompanying 45-minute follow-ups.

I also have a family 6-pack for family nutrition counseling, the difference being two 60-minute assessments to include two caregivers. My last package, but by no means, the least, includes caregiver support. Many times caregivers include spouses who have to cook meals for their partner’s condition who might have outpatient nutrition counseling, or parents who need help with tricky childhood needs, such as eating disorders. These are sessions intended to help the caregiver and they are 30 minutes in length and don’t include full assessments.

Payment & Insurance

I don’t accept insurance at this time. I do provide a super-bill and can submit these on your behalf to your insurance company. What this means is reimbursements will depend upon your insurance coverage and many times insurance is able to cover at least part of the service. I do have information on my website here about how to contact your insurance and what questions to ask so that you can be certain about your benefits prior to meeting with me. To help ease the financial burden, I offer payment plans so that it is easier to pay out of pocket as you wait for your insurance to reimburse you. But as I mentioned here on my site, you will need to check with your insurance to see if nutrition is a covered benefit.

I hope this helps map out my Counseling Services. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
