PERSONALIZED NUTRITION

Discover a healthier, more fulfilling life with personalized nutrition counseling.

We prioritize holistic well-being and a multifaceted approach to achieving overall health versus traditional weight-loss methods.

In this approach, weight is not viewed as a health behavior. Interventions focus on a variety of foods, listening to hunger and fullness cues, reviewing labs, adopting habits like sleep hygiene and self-care, and engaging in physical activity. While weight changes may vary throughout the process, our main goal is to help individuals develop a positive and sustainable relationship with food and their bodies, promoting long-term health and wellness.

A common misconception is that a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) will remove ALL of your favorite foods – but I cannot emphasize enough, that is NOT how I will work with you! You can expect me to help you look for realistic solutions that put joy INTO your lifestyle. And above all else, I value your input and expertise about yourself, because you are the one that knows yourself best.

My approach prioritizes holistic health, recognizing that well-being encompasses more than just weight. We create a stigma-free environment that promotes body positivity and self-acceptance while delivering evidence-based care that leads to positive, long-term health outcomes. Our services are inclusive and personalized, empowering clients to make choices that align with their unique goals and values.

Personalized Nutrition Areas of Specialization

Cardiovascular health

Hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, post-stroke and surgical recovery, and heart disease prevention.

Blood glucose control

Types I and II diabetes, pre-diabetes and overall diabetic prevention.

Metabolic syndrome

Lifestyle treatment for insulin resistance with management of other risk factors within the criteria for diagnosis.

Sports nutrition for recreational athletes

Evaluation of energy demands as it relates to seasonal training and performance.

Chronic disease prevention

Using Health At Every Size (HAES®) and anti-inflammatory diet approaches, I honor cultural food preferences, focus on diet quality and other nutrition-focused behaviors that are strong indicators of overall health (e.g., mindfulness, body awareness, and food environment). The goal of a chronic disease prevention program is not to reduce BMI. While some might report BMI-reductions from following chronic disease prevention programs, BMI is not a representation of your overall health. Those who have completed my chronic disease prevention programs do report having healthier dietary habits and a better responsiveness to appetite-cues.

Disordered eating intervention

With a gentle approach using the intuitive eating framework, I help repair impaired relationships with food when clients are experiencing any of the following: chronic weight fluctuations, frequently skipping meals, have anxiety/guilt/shame associated with certain foods, have rigid ritualistic behaviors surrounding food and exercise, and either orthorexia or Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED). It is strongly encouraged that clients seek additional intervention with a licensed mental health therapist trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in conjunction with this medical nutrition therapy.

Eating disorder treatment and recovery

I am an integral part of patients’ medical teams in the treatment and recovery of eating disorders. I provide outpatient care for patients under continuous medical supervision with their physician and ED-therapist and who have been clinically diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia, or binge-eating disorder. In order to start services, I require that your Physician/Practitioner submit a referral using my MNT referral form.

Emotional eating patterns

I aim to help clients who desire a healthy relationship with food to subscribe to the Satter approach to eating, “… being positive, comfortable, and flexible with eating as well as matter-of-fact and reliable about getting enough to eat of enjoyable and nourishing food.” — Ellyn Satter Institute. To achieve this, I utilize the intuitive eating framework and a Health At Every Size (HAES®) approach.

Gastrointestinal disorders (IBD/IBS)

I provide MNT for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), such as crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, with a gut healing program when in remission and symptom management during flare-ups. I also provide MNT for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – I treat all types, IBS-D, IBS-C, IBS-M, IBS-U, using the low FODMAP approach and food elimination as it may relate to other food allergies, intolerances and/or sensitivities.

Perinatal Nutrition

Pre-conception support, support with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), achieving a healthy pregnancy, and medical nutrition therapy for gestational diabetes.
